I spend a lot of time online and I come across lots of whack-jobs and nutters, to preserve my sanity I need an outlet.  I don't have the patience for debate. So when I finally figure out how I want to express a point, after much consideration, I save it to my Google drive.

Here's the collection:

1
There is no such thing as true privacy. The illusion of privacy is something that comes from the courtesy of other people.

That said, to live happily without privacy you must always express yourself in a way which is not compromising. That doesn't mean you must conform to societal standards and never say anything which will get you into trouble, but when you say something which will get you into trouble do it purposefully and with the understanding that what you do is necessary.

2
What do Republicans like?  This past election cycle the GOP platform seemed to be made up entirely of what republicans hate.  HATE IS NOT A VIABLE PARTY PLATFORM.

With every attempt by republican lawmakers and lobby groups to SUBVERT DEMOCRACY the GOP shows itself to be an AGGRESSIVELY ANTI-AMERICAN organization.

So here's a challenge to you as Republicans, the supposed personal responsibility party, is take care of your own.  Don't let your party paint you into a corner of hate, fear, lies and bigotry.  Don't let them subvert democracy with voter ID laws, gerrymandering or selling favors.

3
Did you ever think to hold corporations responsible for our welfare state?   Holding down wages and lobbying for lower taxes, the US economy has been held hostage by big money for too long.  Let's not forget the French revolution and what it taught us about social responsibility.

4
Whether it's paying your employees starvation wages or buying up companies just so you can tear them apart, you shouldn't benefit from the suffering of others.

5
“I swore never to be silent whenever and wherever human beings endure suffering and humiliation. We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.”
-Elie Wiesel

What I don't like is light pollution.

I want to see the stars.

It's no wonder so few people have a sense of discovery when we can't see the stars that inspired our ancestors to ask "why?"  Shouts of we're the greatest while our health suffers and our high tech jobs are outsourced, a generation becomes burger flippers and paper pushers.

We wake up more tired than when we went to bed because our sleep patterns are disrupted.  Caffeine and nicotine become the salve for our frayed nerves as we attempt to get through the day on less and less energy.  We become addicted to rage because it's all we ever feel.  Good fences make good neighbors because we're too damn tired to give a crap about being social.

An external light assures us we are safe as long as we can see that there is no Boogie man.  The Boogie Man does exist though, and the light is his ally.  From house to house he creeps.  Staring in windows to see what things he can take away.  Finding the unlocked doors and windows.  He creeps in where a bright sodium glow lights his steps.

Insects buzz around socializing and finding mates so they can make more bugs, more potential disease vectors.  Then the city says we will protect you from they pesky pests with this poison we spray from a truck that goes through your neighborhood.  We’re not going to bother asking if you think it's a good idea.  So what if a few billion honey bees die.

Can you tell I'm a bit upset by the whole thing?

Glowing plants:

There shouldn't be any real objection to this kind of genetic manipulation.  It isn't like the argument against Monsanto's GE crops which are designed to produce poison or which use their resistance to poison to sell more poison.

Down the road, there could be some concern about flying animals and light pollution disrupting their flight patterns and mating habits, etc.  Nothing that isn't already affected by current lighting.

Too much magical thinking on the part of Republicans hoping they'll get to be top dog in the government is just turning more people against the Party of Stupid.  The one thing that I find funny is that so called conservatives continue to redefine words like progressive and entitlement to make them dirty words.

What Libertarians really seem to be after is anarchy.  http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/anarchy

There is no such thing as an atheist who hates God.

Government, when managed correctly, will always move towards a minimal state.

Many people take up Reagan’s misguided belief that “government is the problem” without understanding the reasons government may not work for them, and lazy people will always find other people to blame for their own failures.

Now we have a government that rarely has the resources to work for the larger portion of society.  It’s no longer a government for the people.  Instead it is a government for the highest bidder.

12
I want to work.  I want to turn labor into a means to support myself and my aspirations.

How can I submit to a life of enforced labor when I know that most of of the value generated by my labor will be diverted and I will receive a pitiful reimbursement for my effort.  It becomes soul crushing.  The world’s workers are being robbed by the moneyed few who have no regard for the lives of others.

13
There are as many ways to succeed as there are definitions of success, and everyone has a different definition of success.

I think I figured it out.  The words I can use to counter most of the idiotic right-wing fear-mongering: “says the people/person doing exactly that!”

See I figure that a lot of what republicans fear is going to happen is already being perpetrated by their own party.

RWNJ:  “They’re gonna wreck the economy”

Me: “Says the people doing exactly that”

See how that works?
